The Student Council Tilburg acts as an official advisory body of the Tilburg municipality. The objective of the Student Council Tilburg is to represent the interests of all Tilburg students.
We do this in two ways. The Student Council receives documents from the municipality that have to do with Tilburg as a student city and about which an advice has to be given. In addition, the Student Council is expected to have its own agenda in which it clearly states what changes are needed to make Tilburg grow as a student city. The Student Council consists of thirteen members. Nine of them represent a specific group. There are representatives from SOTS, TiGeAk, Fontys study associations, Fontys Participation Council (CMR), Avans, ROC and the Tilburg University Council. Do you have questions or do you have a nice idea for the city? Then you can reach us via info@studentenraadtilburg.nl
Chairman: Thijn Klokkenburg
As chairman you are the contact person within the Student Council. You will participate in various consultations related to student affairs, such as student housing and study workplaces. As chairman you represent the voice of all students in Tilburg! You will also lead your own board meetings and you will be responsible for the policy towards the outside world.
Secretary - Isa de Boer
As secretary of the Student Council Tilburg, you are responsible for a clear reporting of the board and council meetings. Besides that, the secretary communicates general updates from the board to the council.
Treasurer / Vice-President - Walid Essakkati
A treasurer is the person who manages the association's finances. The responsibilities of a treasurer usually include: managing the account and the cash of the organisation, preparing the budget prior to a certain period, presenting financial reports at the end of a certain period (e.g. in the form of an annual report or financial statements) and managing and executing transactions (receipts and expenditure).
The Vice-President is the Vice-Chairman. The Vice-Chairman is co-responsible for the daily management of the Circle and its members. So in that respect he or she does exactly the same as the real chairman. However, a chairman will more often deal with external affairs, while the vice-chairman focuses more internally.
External Affairs - Jason Bierens
For the External Affairs function, you are responsible for all matters concerning communication. In addition, the optimisation of already known contacts is crucial.Connecting and building bridges is important for this. In addition, you fulfil a role in which you offer support to the chairman. You attend various meetings and work closely with the board to achieve an optimal result.
You have a meeting with the municipality once a month and with the alderman once every 6 weeks to discuss the progress and to ask for help.
In conclusion, you are pro-active, energetic and not afraid to start conversations with strangers. You enjoy having a cup of coffee with prospects and are keen to explain what the Student Council is all about and what you can do for each other.
